The invention particularly relates to an adipic dihydrazide modified acrylic ester emulsion for removing formaldehyde and a preparation method of the emulsion. The adipic dihydrazide modified acrylic ester emulsion comprises alkyl acrylate, alkyl (meth) acrylate, alkyl acrylic acid, grafting functional acrylic monomers, an emulsifier, an initiating agent, a buffering agent, formaldehyde removing functional monomers and cross-linking functional monomers, and the emulsion comprises components in parts by mass as follows: 30-90 parts of alkyl acrylate, 30-90 parts of alkyl (meth) acrylate, 0.1-1.7 parts of alkyl carboxylic acid, 1-10 parts of other functional acrylic monomers, 1-5 parts of the emulsifier, 0.5-3 parts of the initiating agent, 0.1-1 part of the buffering agent, 60-110 parts of deionized water, 1-9 parts of the formaldehyde removing functional monomers and 1-9 parts of the cross-linking functional monomers A. The adipic dihydrazide modified acrylic ester emulsion for removing formaldehyde and the preparation method of the emulsion have the benefits as follows: the acrylic ester monomers are adopted as main monomers, the relative content among the monomers has great influence on the hardness degree of a latex film, and the hardness degree of the latex film can be adjusted according to actual application demands.
