16321 - Cultivo e Produção de Óleos Essenciais de Capuchinha (Tropaeolum majus L.) sob Influência Alelopática de Extratos Vegetais Aquosos Cultivation and Production of Essential Oils of Nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus L.) under Allelopathic Influence of Aqueous Plant Extracts

2014
Allelopathy defined as biochemical and physiological interactions between plants and or microorganisms, is an important aspect in the study of cultivation and changes in the metabolism of aromatic and medicinal plants. Aqueous extracts of rosemary, kalanchoe and thyme, all at a concentration of 8% (w/v) polyethylene glycol (osmotic control) and a water control were applied three times a week, for two months in nasturtium plants. Biometric measurements were performed weekly. At the end of the experiment, with plants in the reproductive stage, measurements of fresh and dry weight of shoot and root system were performed, also extraction and analysis of essential oil. The results indicated a tendency of growth inhibition due to the application of the extracts, mainly the rosemary. The allelopathic influence had become more pronounced in the production of essential oil, being the rosemary extract which presented the highest yield.
