Clinical observation on effect of tramadol Hcl sustained-release tablets on moderate to severe cancerous pain

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of Tramadol Hcl sustained release tablets(THS RTs)on moderate to severe cancer pain.Methods THS RTs of 100mg was orally administered to forty patients with moderate (29/40) or severe(11/40)cancerous pain per 12 hours who had no response to the first ladder analgesics by WHO.Results Potency of such tablets was 92.5%,pain relief rate 87.5%;complete pain relief rate 50.0%;an average pain relief time(ART) was 9.9 hours.Its side effect rate was 45.0%.Conclusions THS RTs,a non morphine analgesics in the second ladder,is recognized by its potent pain relief effect,convenience to use,rarely seen addiction and well tolerated side effects.
