RECENT RESULTS FROM CESRTA INTRABEAM SCATTERING INVESTIGATIONS

2013
Intrabeam scattering (IBS) manifests itself in electron/positron storage rings as a current-dependent equilibrium beam size. The beam size results from the equilibrium between the IBS growth rates in each of the three degrees of freedom and radiation damping/excitation rates. In this paper we report on experiments that examine IBS growth rates versus two key beam parameters, namely, energy and particle density. The energies explored here are 2.1, 2.3, and 2.5 GeV. Dependence on particle density is explored by adjusting the zero-current vertical emittance of the beam. The measurements are compared to theory results.
