Female Genital Tuberculosis Mimicking Ovarian Carcinoma: A Case Report

1993
Although tuberculosis is not so common as it was before, it is still a relative important disease in this country. Tuberculosis of female genital tract is extremely rare, and is unfamiliar to both gynecologists and radiologists nowadays. Female genital tuberculosis presents most commonly with infertility, abdominal pain, and menstrual irregularity, constituting about 0.002 to 0.05% of all gynecological diseases. We presented a 32-year-old female who had genital tuberculosis associated with intraperitoneal miliary spreading, diagnosed preoperatively as malignant ovarian tumor with peritoneal carcinomatosis. The clinical findings, histopathological features and radiographic pictures, especially the images of CT scan, were described. Genital tuberculosis should be included in the differential diagnosis of female pelvic mass with ascites.
