ON THE OBJECT-ORIENTED BASIC DESIGN SYSTEM FOR SHIPS
1988
In building a computer-aided design system it is necessary to develop a suitable model for representing design objects such as a ship and for design processes that determine redesigning strategies. In this study the design object is described as a combination of a data structure and a set of constraints on related design parameters. The design process is represented by IF - THEN rules which reflect a skilful engineer's design knowhow. Some application results of the basic design of ships are presented to demonstrate the system.
