e18081 Risk of Second Primary Malignancy (SPM) and Survival of Adult Patients with Polycythemia Vera (PV): A US population-based study Background: Although the median survival in PV is as high as 14 years, overall mortality is still higher compared to age and sex matched population. Leukemic transformation or SPM are among the leading causes of death in PV. Methods: We included 8155 PV patients between 1973- 2010 from SEER 18 registry, using International Classification of Diseases for Oncology (ICD-O-3) code 9950 to calculate age standardized 5 year survival. The incidence of SPM, defined as any metachronous malignancy developing six months after the diagnosis of PV, was analyzed from SEER 13 Registry (n=2961; patients > 18 years old) between 1992-2010.
