Sensitive and selective detection of metal ions and small molecules in aqueous media using a hydrolytically stable amide-functionalized metal–organic framework

Abstract With the increase in human activities, the issue of environmental pollution is currently more and more serious, such as metal ions and chemical solvent pollutants which deeply influenced the human health and the environment. Herein, microporous MOF, TMU-22, with amide-decorated pores was employed for the detection of Al 3+ and Fe 3+ ions in aqueous media. The results demonstrated high selectivity to these ions especially Fe 3+ , with no interference from other metal ions. This MOF shows fast recognition of Al 3+ and Fe 3+ with a response time of K SV constant of Fe 3+ was 65184 M −1 , which is higher than other MOFs reported in the previous literature.
