Reservoir engineering formulas and calculations

2019
Abstract Reservoir engineering is a major branch of petroleum engineering that deals with development and production of petroleum reservoirs with principles of fluid flow in porous rock using different techniques. There are several formulas used in reservoir engineering in determination of important parameters including but not limited to production rate of oil and gas, volumes of oil and gas, and pressures of the reservoir as well as the characteristics of reservoir and fluids. This chapter provides a comprehensive list of commonly used formulas in reservoir engineering, comprising very simple to relatively more complex formulas that will serve engineers in oil and gas industry as a useful reference. Inputs, outputs, and formulas are outlined clearly along with their units. References are listed for the reader to investigate the subject further where necessary. This chapter features more than 150 formulas in petroleum reservoir engineering.
