Tourism and the invisible historic sites in Antarctica

This paper focuses on a number of especially endangered sites, which are the first human settlements in Antarctica related to whaling and sealing exploitation in the 19th century. Different cases detected in the South Shetland Islands are discussed in order to contribute to the development of concrete strategies of management and protection to meet the advance of tourism.
