User Equipment Positioning Algorithm for Mobile Networks

Mobile devices are usually equipped with receivers of signals of global positioning systems, however, in some cases, such as indoor or dense urban scenario, GPS may not provide good results. In this case, the position of user equipment (UE) is determined using a priori information about the location of base stations (BS) of the mobile network. The article considers a method for determining UE location based on digital maps of signal power levels generated by various BSs. The results of experiments of radio wave propagation indoors and the results of UE coordinates calculation using various versions of the user equipment positioning algorithm are presented.
