Cr 3+ :LmSrA1F 6 Laser Pumped by a Pulsed Dye Laser

We have been studying LiSAF laser by pumping with a pulsed dye laser in the absorption bands around 640 nm and 440 nm in an effort to understand the pumping mechanism in flashlamp-pumped tunable LiSAF lasers, and to simulate the high power diode pumped LiSAF laser. Also, we have measured by a pump-probe experiment the cross section for excited state absorption (ESA) in LiCAF and LiSAF in the visible range. The ESA cross section at was me sured to be 3x10-20 cm’ for Cr3+: LiCaAlF6. fo Cr3+:LmSrA1F6 and 1.2X10-20cm2 for Cr3+:LmSrA1F6
