Expression of MDR1-mRNA and MRP-mRNA in adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma of the lung

2000
Objective:To investigate the expressions of multidrug resistance (MDR1)gene and multidrug resistanceassociated protein(MRP) gene in 30 cases with adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma of the lungMethod:RTPCR method Results:Forty percent of tumor specimens and 1667%of normal tissues had positive expression of MDR1 gene(P=0045)Its expression was not associated with the degree of differentiation, histopathology and the clinical stagingA total of 4333%of tumor specimens and 2667%of normal tissues had positive expression of MRPmRNAIts expression was associated with the degree of differentiation of the tumor(P=003),but not related to the histopathology and clinical staging (P 005)Eight of the 30 lung cancer specimens coexpressed MDR1 and MRP gene in tumor tissuesConclusion: MDR1 correspondent 70%MRP expression in lung cancer which may implicate in drug resistance in adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma of the lung
