Green supply chain with learning in production and environmental investments

2018
Abstract Environmentally responsible actions can play a strategic role in protecting and enhancing the image of a supply chain. The production rate of manufacturing activities is a driver that affects environmental performance the most. It becomes faster with learning, which results in generating more CO 2 emissions. In this contribution, a vendor-buyer green supply chain model is studied, considering a decentralised and a centralised optimised policy. They consider investing in learning in production and in reducing CO 2 emissions of the production process. A numerical example is presented to compare the behaviour of the model under the two policies.
