A Páva utcai zsinagóga rekonstrukciója
2004
As a result of the boom in the development of the Jewish community on the turn of the 19th-20th centuries, several synagogues were built: some of the finest were designed in eclectic style by Lipot Baumborn (Szeged, Ceglad, Fiume etc.). He was commissioned to design the new, modern synagogue for the Jewish community of Ferencvaros (in the 9th district of Budapest) which was opened in 1924. The synagogue ceased to function during the Second World War, and finally in the 1970s. Plans were made to restore the building and give a new function to it, housing the Holocaust Documentation Centre and Memorial Collection, designed by the architect Istvan Manyi. Reconstructions were preceded by careful research in archives and in situ. Some details which could not be restored were replaced by exquisite works of art. The project took 10 months to complete and the building was reconstructed in a state-of-the-art manner
