Clinical and dermatoscopic features of lichen planus balanoposthitis.

2021
Lichen planus (LP) is an inflammatory mucocutaneous disease characterized by pruritic, polygonal, violaceous, flat-topped papules. Wickham striae (WS) are a dermatoscopic and clinical hallmark of LP. Additional dermatoscopic findings include dotted and linear vessels, white and yellow dots, and pigmented structures. However, LP manifests with different clinical and dermatoscopic patterns according to the localization and the duration of the inflammation.1 Lichen planus balanoposthitis (LPBP) can be the sole presentation of the disease and is a risk factor for developing penile intraepithelial neoplasia.2 Dermatoscopy could facilitate the diagnosis of LPBP in uncertain cases. However, data on dermatoscopic features of LPBP are exceedingly limited.
