Flavonoids from Macaranga gigantea (Euphorbiaceae)

2008
Two flavonoids, glyasperin A ( 1) and apigenin ( 2), have been isolated from the leaves of Macaranga gigantea, a species which has not yet been investigated by other workers. The chemical structures of both flavonoids were determined by spectroscopic methods. The cytotoxic properties of both compounds were evaluated against murine leukemia P-388 cell lines, and both compounds showed cytotoxic activity with IC 50 values were 5.95 and 5.07 µg/mL, respectively.
