The Distribution of Free Amino Acids Between Erythrocytes and Plasma in the Fowl

1960
SUMMARY The distribution of free amino-acids in ethanol extracts of plasma and erythrocytes from fowls of different ages have been qualitatively analysed by filter-paper chromatography. Twenty-one of these acids were detected and there was evidence of a variation in concentration of some of them with age, and also significant differences between concentrations in the blood plasma and cells. The amino-acid pattern of the latter showed a close similarity to other fowl tissues and to those reported in the erythrocytes of other species.
