Syntheses of pentafulvenes from 4-alkylidenecyclopentenones

An efficient synthesis of polysubstituted pentafulvenes from 4-alkylidenecyclopentenones is reported via a two-step procedure consisting of addition of an organometallic reagent (or reduction) followed by dehydration.
