Thermoosmotic studies on argon gas and binary gaseous mixtures of argon and ethylene through an unglazed porcelain membrane

1978
Abstract Measurements of thermoosmotic pressure differences, Δ P , and heats of transport, [ Q * ]°, for various values of the temperature difference, Δ T , have been made for argon gas and binary gaseous mixtures of argon and ethylene. Thermoosmotic concentration differences, Δ C 1 , for the mixtures have also been measured. The effective thermal diffusion factor is found to be much greater than the thermal diffusion factor for a non-membrane system. The individual heats of transport of the component gases in the binary gaseous mixture have also been estimated at different temperatures.
