The present invention provides a novel industrially environmentally friendly method for producing methylcobalamin useful as a medicine and the like. More specifically, the present invention provides a method for producing methylcobalamin, comprising reducing cyanocobalamin or hydroxocobalamin in the presence of a reducing agent, and, after the reduction, methylating by adding a water-soluble methylating agent.
