Monitoring System of Taekwondo Athletes’ Movements: First Insights

Taekwondo practice has been increasing worldwide, however, the methods of analyzing the performance of the athletes have not evolved in the same proportion. The evaluation methods used are performed manually, making the process slow and ineffective. Regarding that, is presented in this paper a system able to get the 3-axis acceleration and gyroscope measurements of the Taekwondo athlete’s movements from a MPU-6050 sensor via Wi-Fi communication. The developed WPF Application (Windows application) provides the interface to add the athlete and training session’s data, and al-lows to view in real time the session’s values through plots. The data obtained is saved into a SQL database. The application will be used by Taekwondo trainers to evaluate the performance of the athlete’s movements in real time in training environment.
