Tonsillectomy is one of the most common surgical procedures performed in children. Although tonsillectomy is a safe procedure, it can be associated with intra and postoperative complications. The purpose of this article is to review the potential complications described in patients undergoing tonsillectomy considering the evidence and recommendations published in order to improve clinical decision making and perioperative management in our daily practice.
