Microbiological Screening of Chemicals for Potential Antitumor Activity

Summary The effect of 400 compounds has been tested on the growth of one or more of seven bacterial systems. There is no evident correlation of an y specificity of action in these systems with reported antitumor activity. Inhibition of cell division seemed to be generally correlated with oxidizing or alkylating function of the chemicals.
