Optical 3D position measurement system for the simultaneous acquisition of six degrees of freedom

2001
Optical position measuring system for the simultaneous detection of all six degrees of freedom of a moving object in three dimensional space, consisting of a sensor, an identification tag, an illumination and a control unit, characterized in that a) the sensor is an area image sensor (14) which is applied to the moving object, b) the identification mark is a dot-shaped opening which is arranged in a (at a certain distance parallel in front of the area image sensor 14) light attenuating or opaque film is placed, c) illuminating at least five are point sources of light, ideally, d) is selected, the number and positioning of the light sources in the three-dimensional space so that in each position to be measured and orientation of the object the light rays of at least five light sources, which are not arranged in a line, can directly reach through the dot-shaped opening through the area image sensor, as e) the control unit includes an image processing with implemented mathematical model and a corresponding mathematical evaluation algorithm for determining the location and position of the moving object, a trigger circuit for the current or intermittently driving the light sources and for the current or intermittently receiving the respective shadow images on the area image sensor.
