Multipath and Doppler Shift Modeling Under Highly Reflective Environment for Underwater Acoustic Communication

2019
Underwater acoustic communication (UAC) is affected by time-varying factors in multipath fading and Doppler shifts. Their accurate modeling is mandatory in simulation. Recent techniques treat non-uniform path speed modeling that can express source/receiver motion and moving sea surface. However, they require numerous computations when thousands of acoustic paths should accurately be modeled. We present a computationally efficient algorithm for multipath and Doppler shift modeling. The presented algorithm has been tested with comparing the measurement and simulation results in water tank, port, and lake.
