Morphology of Peripheral and Central Vestibular Systems

1976
The frog vestibular system is readily accessible for both morphological and physiological analysis. In the CNS, the vestibular area extends from just behind the cerebellum down to an area just rostral to the obex. This region is positioned in the alar wing of the neural tube that flanks the IVth ventricle. The small cerebellum in anurans does not extend over the central vestibular region as in reptiles, birds and mammals.
