Study on concentration of glutamate and GABA in mouse brain of chronic ethanol intoxication

Objective To explore the mechanisms of nervous system injuries led by ethanol.Methods The chronic ethanol intoxication model of mice was built by freely drinking ethanol solution and the concentrations of glutamate(Glu) and GABA in homogenate of brain were measured.Results The concentration of Glu in homogenate of brain in ethanol treatment group was higher than that in control group and pair control group,while concentrations of GABA in three group were not different significantly.Conclusion Glu is involved in the mechanism of central nervous system injuries led by ethanol.However,the role of GABA needs more research to make certain.
