Antimicrobial Polymer Compositions

According to this invention there is provided an antimicrobial composition comprising particles of silver chloride attached to a particulate thermoplastic polymer, wherein the silver chloride is prepared by a controlled precipitation technique. There is also provided a method for the production of an antimicrobial composition by controlled precipitation of silver salt in the presence of a thermoplastic polymer dispersion. Preferably the thermoplastic polymer is polyamide 6/12 or polyethylene. The precipitation is carried out by a double jetting method.
