Application of software-defined storage

Software Defined Storage (SDS) can provide services for external storage applications by abstracting and pooling all types of storage resources in order to achieve the required resources to use. Based on different interpretation or description of SDS from various authoritative advisory body, and other major manufacturers, this paper refines the common characteristics and advantages of the SDS. Since the SDS has a self-service, virtualization, hardware loosely coupled, rich data interface and other features, mainstream manufacturers are put into the SDS application areas. The emphasis and technical advantages of each individual is slightly different. By analyzing two typical SDS software, testing and building the appropriate physical environment, this paper analyzes the key indicators and thereby abstract application scenarios SDS to provide some reference for service providers SDS selection.
