The recent renaissance in heavy element research

1997
New information concerning the nuclear properties of the heaviest elements generated by the recent renaissance in heavy element research will be briefly discussed. Some of the data needs and compilations that would be especially helpful to researchers in this field will be outlined. A few examples are: gamma- and alpha-decay data cross-indexed by energy, intensity, other decay modes, metastable states, parent-daughter relationships, and isotope; spontaneous fission partial half-lives and fragment properties; neutron and charged-particle reaction cross sections. Particularly helpful would be the availability of working libraries or sub-databases in, a format which can readily be edited and/or used for other application programs.
