A Machine for Shearing Christmas Trees

ABSTRACT A machine for shearing Christmas trees was constructed and mounted on a small 11.9 kW (16 PTO hp) conventional tractor. Field tests were conducted on White pine and Virginia pine plantings. Results from four types of blades and hand shearing are presented. Design improvements are expected to increase the efficiency and ease of operation. Some driver training and experience will be necessary for maximum capacity.
