Realization of Dual-Band Matching Networks Using Cascaded Filters

A novel method for realizing dual-band impedance matching networks using filters and phase shifters is presented. The proposed method offers a simple design procedure, leading to a compact matching network. It does not use the extreme line impedances required by conventional matching network designs. In addition, the method is compatible with both purely real and complex loads. The proposed concept is validated by fabricating prototypes on Ventec VT-47 substrate (er=4.27). The simulation and measurement results are in close agreement confirming the validity of the proposed concept.
