FROM THE DESK OF THE EDITOR - IN - CHIEF

In 2015, we successfully upgraded from one journal issue per year to three issues per year under the Elsevier platform and we disengaged early last year from Elsevier due to unforeseen challenges in the agreement involving the Committee of Vice Chancellors and TetFund. However, the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy, a leading global institution that has consistently built scientific capacities of developing countries by fostering the growth of advanced studies/research in physical/ mathematical sciences has kindly supported the online hosting of the Journal of the Nigerian Mathematical Society. This will provide the journal with cost-effective and suitable alternatives to hosting with Elsevier. Our latest feat was a result of my recent visit to ICTP in June/July 2016 as a Visiting Scientist to the Mathematics section under the headship of Professor Fernando Rodriguez Villegas, and the unquantifiable effort of Dr. Clement Onime of the Information and Communications Technology Section of ICTP. Our special thanks go to the Director, ICTP, Professor Fernando Quevedo for the endorsement of the Memoranda of Understanding without which we cannot go live on Open Journal System (OJS).
