Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Use in Adolescents
2020
There is a clear association between clinical benefit from CGM and the frequency of its use.
CGM is less effective in adolescents who tend to wear the device less constantly compared to adults.
Issues with body image or lack of regular calibrations have a negative effect on its regular use.
Frequent alarms can be overwhelming and lead to fatigue in the use of CGM.
More recent devices that are smaller, more discrete and precise may increase CGM uptake in adolescents.
