EXPRESSION OF SYMBIOTIC SPECIFIC SEQUENCES IN THE Rhizobium phaseoli-Phaseolus vulgaris ASSOCIATION

Bacteria of the genus Rhizobium interact with the roots of legumes and induce the formation of nitrogen fixing nodules. During the symbiosis there seems to be a coordinated expression of bacterial and plant genetic information Vanden Bos et al., 1982 and Fuller et al. , 1983. We are interested in the isolation and characterization of bacterial nodule specific sequences that are expressed during the Rhizobium phaseoli-Phaseolus vulgaris symbiosis.
