Upgrading Hydraulic Infrastructure for Level One Redundancy

1990
In the current paper a methodology is presented for upgrading any single source water distribution system in order to provide a level one system redundancy at a minimum cost. A level one redundant water distribution system is defined as one that is able to sustain a single random component failure (link or node) and still maintain the desired level of system performance. The proposed methodology involves three basic steps: Topology Augmentation, Topology Decomposition and Capacity Augmentation.
