Dermatology of the patient with HIV.

2010
Cutaneous diseases affect most patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) at some point during their infection. These patients have up to 15 times higher visit rates for common infectious and inflammatory skin conditions than patients not infected with HIV. Although antiretroviral therapy (ART) has decreased the incidence of some rashes, particularly those associated with profound immunosuppression, rashes remain prevalent, especially in those who do not have consistent HIV care. This review focuses on rashes almost exclusively related to HIV and rashes that have unusual presentations because of HIV infection.
