2012
Complexity of the electromagnetic response of the tokamak structures is one of the key and design-driving issues for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER). Specifics of assessment of local electromagnetic (EM) loads associated with transient electromagnetics is reviewed. A strategy is proposed for the EM loads modelling and analysis that enables iterative design optimization at early R&D stages. A new method is described to simplify the mathematical model reasoning from peculiarities of the design and task under consideration. Efficiency of transient EM simulations via a set of simplified models with relevant detalization is demonstrated for complex electromagnetic facilities. Results of a predictive numerical EM analysis in terms of integral loads are exemplified for the ITER blanket components.
