Evaluation on Data Modeling Languages for Standardization of NETCONF-Based Network Management: Application of an Evaluation Framework for Data Modeling Languages in Network Management Domain

With evolution of the Internet, complexity of computer networks has greatly increased, when more and more network resources need to be effectively managed. The aim of this chapter is then to establish an evaluation framework to measure the capabilities of data modeling languages in adapting to the requirements of ever-evolving network management and apply it to examine the possibility of XML Schema and YANG as NETCONF-based data modeling languages for the purpose of standardization.
