Anti-atherosclerotic Activities of Two Compounds from Mantidis ootheca
2012
[Objective] Antioxidant effects of extract from Mantidis ootheca were investigated in the thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances(TBARS) assay.[Methods] TBARS method, the apoB-100 fragmentation method and the conjugated diene production method were used to observe the inhibitive arteriosclerosis.[Results] N-(3,4-dihydroxyphenethyl)acetamide(1) and 2,4-di-tert-butylphenol(2) were isolated from the methanol extract of M.ootheca using silica-gel column chromatography and C-18 gel column chromatography.Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited anti-atherosclerotic activities against LDL oxidation in the thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances(TBARS) assay(1: IC50=5.7 μmol/L and 2: IC50=9.1 μmol/L),the apoB-100 fragmentation on copper-mediated LDL oxidation, the lag time of conjugated diene production.[Conclusion] Two compounds from M.ootheca have strong anti-atherosclerotic activities.
