Atherectomy in treatment of lower extremity peripheral arterial disease

2018
Peripheral vascular disease of the lower extremity is an important cause of morbidity and affects 10 million people in India1. Atherectomy is an useful adjunct in already established endovascular techniques for lower limb atherosclerotic disease. We present a case series of 15 patients who presented with complains of peripheral vascular disease and were treated using atherectomy device. At one and six month follow up, all the patients showed significant clinical improvement. The cost and availability are some of the practical issues however limiting its use.
