Genetic Futures and the Media

On balance, the media represent human genetics in a positive light but this is not always appreciated by researchers and medical professionals who frequently fail to appreciate the complexity of the relations between the media and genetics. Economic and cultural factors unrelated to the science influence coverage, while the scientific community itself operates double standards by failing to carry over standards of rigor from scientific to public discourse.
