Three-dimensional Nanoantenna Inverse-design

2019
Realizing a diverse set of high-performance nanoantennas for phase-gradient applications can be extremely challenging without the aid of formal inverse-design techniques. To this end, an inverse-design procedure based on the Multi-Objective Lazy Ant Colony Optimization (MOLACO) algorithm is proposed for the synthesis of three-dimensional nanoantenna geometries that achieve high transmission performance and a wide range of phase options. A unit cell geometry suitable for a Membrane Projection Lithography fabrication technique is presented and explored by MOLACO in order to discover a set of highly transmissive nanoantennas that achieve a full 2π phase range. Finally, future research directions and applications are briefly discussed.
