Analysis of Eddy Current Loss for Wireless Power Transfer in Conductive Medium Using Z-parameters Method

For charging the battery of underwater applications, many researches on inductive power transfer (IPT) in conductive medium have been conducted. The researches are mainly focused on the analysis of eddy current loss (ECL). In this paper, the Z-parameters method is used to analyze the characteristics of the coil impedance, power transfer efficiency and ECL by considering the conductivity of medium and operating frequency. The Z-parameters method reflects the ECL as an additional resistive component of coils, which is very useful for system analysis and design process.
