Objective. To identify the published scientific production that explores the experiences and processes of adaptation of parents (males) and brothers / sisters after that some sun/daughter or brother/sister, in child age, has been diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus type 1. Method. For the localization of documents were consulted bibliographical databases MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL and Cochrane.Searchs were not restrictive, and thorough with MeSH terms, from 2002 to 2012. Peer review. Results. There were a total of 657 articles were excluded duplicate articles in different databases, which dealt with teenage diabetics and those who are referan exclusively to mothers. Total original articles finally selected was 6 .Were selected 3 reference which parents and 3 siblings concerning. Selected articles, 3 were qualitative and 3 quantitative descriptive. From the analysis of the publications reviewed have built two major categories concepts or both parents as in the brothers / sisters: Adaptation the new situation and experiences. Conclusion. The results highlight the importance of integrating health team from the beginning to the parents (males) and siblings in the management of the child diabetes type 1. This revision suggests further research on the experiences and the process of adaptation of parents and siblings, and even other family members (grandparents ), who live with a child to who has been diagnosed with a chronic illness such as diabetes type 1.
