Neurobehavioral Function Analysis Among Occupational Lead Exposed Workers

2006
Objective To explore and evaluate the neurobehavioral function of lead exposed workers. Methods Neurobehavioral core test battery(NCTB) was applied to test the lead exposed workers and compared with age, working duration and education matched control group as well as the urinary lead concentrations. Results Impairment neurobehavioral function existed in the lead exposed group, including increased stress condition, depression, anger, fatigue and confusion(P0.01).The scores of digit span,Santa Ann manual dexterity,Benton visual retention, and digit symbol and pursuit aiming test were lower in the exposed group(P0.05,P0.01). Conclusions There are adverse effects on neurobehavioral function in occupational lead exposed workers.Neurobehavioral core test battery can be applied to evaluate the early evidence in lead exposed workers.
