Investigation and performance-evaluation of online sensor fault-compensation for IPM-drives

2017
Safety-relevant applications of electrical drives require a high level of reliability. Depending on the application, certain degrees of performance must be maintained when a fault occurs. Fault-tolerance is mandatory at least for the time period until a secure state of the overall system is reached. In this work, two online sensor fault-compensation frameworks for current-controlled interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPM) drives are investigated, covering current-sensors and the position-transducer, respectively. Implementation and optimization potentials are discussed, enabling reliable fault-compensation within the full specified operating range. Experimental results are presented to evaluate and prove (he fault-tolerant capability of the proposed schemes.
