Women were excluded from the most learned societies, cutting them off from libraries, reference collections, and men and women with similar interests. Their employment prospects were damaged. Lady Warwick’s Association targeted the Royal Society, the Royal Microscopical, and the Linnean. When women were finally admitted to the latter they quickly demonstrated their worth.
