The Hauts-de-Seine county (near Paris) asks for maximum rainwater outflow from individual connections to the combined sewer system when downspout disconnection is not possible. So as to control the maintenance of the rainwater regulation devices and their efficiency on a long-term basis, the water board of the Hauts-de-Seine county has developed a maintenance booklet for the owners and operators of the rainwater regulation devices. After using the maintenance booklet for one year in 2009 and visiting 21 rainwater regulation devices, first results are coming out: around 53 % of the visited devices are not or badly operated, 66 % still operate properly. This maintenance booklet fulfils a need, as operators feel they’re not fully aware of the characteristics of the devices they’re responsible of.
